In the event of a lightning strike, the electricity will flow directly into the ground without causing damage. There is a misconception that steel houses are more prone to lightning strikes; however, steel is safer than wooden frame construction because it is a better conductor of electricity and the energy cannot be dispersed around the frame in a destructive way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steel structures and fire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Steel frame construction is an excellent fire-resistant alternative to timber. As steel is non-combustible, it will not contribute to the spread of fire, add fuel to a fire, or produce harmful smoke and dangerous burning chemicals. House fires are practically uncontrollable once fire reaches the roof space.
